The movement of time

A Visual Concept

Inspired by the Japanese philosophy WABI SABI, I created the concept THE ZILLENIALS THE MOVEMENT OF TIME, a project that makes a statement through material, philosophy and social constructs. The focus was on the appreciation of nature, beauty, acceptance and transience. With a critical approach I looked at the speed and pressure of time in society. I visualised time travelling and gave an abstract atmosphere to the transformation and peeling of the skin. I tried to radiate tranquility and peace, as well as causing a suffocating experience. Especially nowadays we should embrace imperfection, nature, life and death. Simplification is key, not complication. Especially for the 'zillenial' generation: the generation that nobody talks about and doesn't officially exist. The generation in between the millennials and the zoomers, those who were born between 1993 and 1998. They grew up during the transition from the analog to the digital world, and can understand both these worlds. They do not feel at home in the compartments of society. They have experienced one of the major transitions in modern history, and dear the speed and transformation of time. Therefore they long for simplification. They see unrealistic ideals and standards about appearance and do not appreciate imperfection and transience; which is exactly what I wanted to emphasize with this visual concept. â€‹
