Social design

Social movements and waves of protest do not arise from their own internal logic, but from the dynamics of their interactions with news media and their competition with other movements. The challenge is to recognize these complexities without being defeated by them. Many studies have shown the importance of “movement marketing”. That means people are switching, avoiding, choosing or boycotting not just based on where they stand but on political or social issues they care about. SPOT TRENDS are revelations that make you aware that a protest is not only something that you fully support, but that you unconsciously contribute to as a trend. HYPOCRISY is an important theme within my project. Hypocrisy can thus be seen as a form of behavior aimed at appearing better than is strictly defensible, both from the point of view of sincerity and the necessity of circumstances. I want to confuse the viewer, create awareness and hold up a mirror. What topics do you think of when you think of hypocrisy within an act of political protest?
